Class Action Magnet Courts: The Allure Intensifies

John H. Beisner, Jessica Davidson Miller, Manhattan Institute Civil Justice Report 5 (2002)

An update of their earlier study, They're Making a Federal Case Out of It . . . In State Court, Beisner and Miller’s research examines class action filing trends in Madison County, Illinois in 2001 and early 2002 and finds that the county continues to be a magnet court jurisdiction drawing an increasing and disproportionate number of multi-state and nationwide class action filings.
