The documentary "Capturing the Friedmans" was an astonishing tale of a Long Island family caught up in a 1980s child-sex-abuse prosecution hysteria. One of the participants, Jesse Friedman, petitioned the federal courts for relief, but was ineligible for habeas corpus; still, the Second Circuit was critical of how Nassau County law enforcement handled the case.
