The IRS whistleblower program was recently expanded to make the role of informant significantly more lucrative. Now American University law professor Dennis J. Ventry, Jr. (via Caron) proposes to expand the program still further to authorize qui tam private lawsuits accusing others of tax underpayment, with the entrepreneurial complainant getting to keep a portion of the spoils.
