"As safe as necessary, not as safe as possible"
Echoes across the pond of concerns voiced here, from a report in The Scotsman: At a conference yesterday, the society's [Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents] play safety manager David Yearley said playgrounds should be "as safe as necessary, not as safe as possible" if they are to prevent children playing on railway lines, by roads and on river banks.
He warned that parents have to accept children may get hurt while playing.
