"Proposed Bills Could Make Louisiana Legal Climate Even Worse"

Legislation under consideration in Baton Rouge would reintroduce punitive damages, expand litigation alleging unequal pay and raise limits on medical malpractice awards. On the other hand, a trio of bills introduced by other lawmakers would attempt to rein in abuses in asbestos and silica litigation, addressing forum-shopping problems and requiring plaintiffs to disclose more information that could shed light on duplicative or baseless claims.
