Six meat plants run by Swift & Co. were shut down when immigration officials raided the plants and found over a thousand illegal aliens working there. (Kim Nguyen, AP/WaPo, Dec. 12). Except, as Tamar Jacoby of the Manhattan Institute writes, "When job applicants started showing up with what the company suspected were false papers, it tried inquiring into their backgrounds—only to be sued for discrimination by the Justice Department."
